Trap
We start with Cooper (Hartnett) teasing his young daughter as they rush to get to a concert by Lady Raven. Think of her as this universe's Taylor Swift. He's your typical goofy, loving dad as he tries to rile up and calm his teenage daughter, who can barely contain her excitement over the concert. Their interactions are fun and wholesome, and what every dad hopes to get from their kids. You can tell that he's super excited that she's super excited, and their interactions are

Lake Mungo
The movie is a mockumentary about a young girl who drowned while swimming with her family. The film starts off as a normal documentary, and it plays out like a normal true crime story. It gives background, covers her disappearance, the search for her body, it interviews parents, friends and neighbors.

Near Dark
We start with Caleb Colton driving around town in his beat-up truck during what looks like a hot summer night in Texas. He stops at a gas station, and the first thing he does is almost get into a fist fight with his friend. After that, he meets a pretty drifter named Mae and offers her a ride home.

Howl
A train guard, fresh off learning he did not get his promotion, learns from his dickhead supervisor that he has an unexpected double and he'll be on board the red eye from London to Eastborough. You see from that interaction that he's not one for confrontations and tends to let people push him around.

Sweet Revenge
I had to look this up, but the Friday the 13th lawsuit and the fallout have been going on for nine years! Nine years we've been dealing with this shit. I've talked about it ad nauseam...I'm trying to say is that there's been a serious lack of Jason in my life.

Sinners
Before I begin, let me tell you something that's always bugged me about certain vampire movies. This movie does it, but then it kind of changes its mind in a way that doesn't get addressed, or, entirely possible, I just missed it. It's when a vampire turns, and they're immediately evil. They don't even seem hungry; they just immediately want to run to the nearest living thing and kill it. I get that for zombies, they're brainless eating machines, but not vampires.

Black Mountain Side
This movie has been on my list for years, but either I haven't been able to find a stream once October rolled around, or I just ran out of dealer's choice days with too many movies that I had planned on watching. Much like many of the movies I watch on a whim, the recommendations were that it was a very good cosmic horror movie. And if you've been reading me for some time, you'll know that it's a genre that I find myself gravitating toward more often.

Sketch
I saw this movie without ever hearing of it before. My nephew had his birthday party at a local theater, and this was the movie. All I knew about it was the basic premise, and it was produced by "Angel Studios." In my 15 years of doing this, I never thought there would be a movie from that studio that I'd be able to review.

The Bigfoot Trap
When I was a much younger Mr. Pat, I believed in Bigfoot. I was never exposed to the hunting Bigfoot shows, but I can imagine, if I knew about them at that age, I'd have been all over them. Still, I was always a big fan, and anytime I was in a wooded area, I'd be looking around, seeing if I could find him. In case you're wondering, no, I never found him.

Cthulhu
You know what's weird about Lovecraftian movies? Well, outside of the obvious? Two movies specifically reference two creatures in the title, but they're based on the story "Shadow Over Innsmouth." There's Dagon and today's movie Cthulhu. If I may reference Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz, "If I had a nickel for every time that happened, I'd have two nickels. It's not a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice."

Pulse
I love this weather. Yesterday, my family and I went to Earth's Greatest Zoo, and the weather was perfect! It was sunny with a breeze that packed a nice chill. I feel most comfortable wearing shorts and a hoodie, and after what seemed like a brutal summer, this cool weather is hitting the spot. This weather is one of many reasons why October is my favorite month of the year. So yeah, let's talk about...
