Year 13 Recap: Thirty-One Nights Beneath the Harvest Moon

Thirteen years beneath October's skies,
Of haunted houses, screams, and lies.
Three hundred seventy-two films had passed,
Yet Mr. Pat returned, determined to last.
The pumpkins grinned, the dead arose,
And thirty-one more films he chose.
Some brought delight, some brought despair,
And some deserved a chainsaw to the derrière.
Ghostface stalked New York beneath the city lights,
But familiar masks don't guarantee fresh frights.
Leatherface returned, but subtlety had fled,
With dueling saws and lunatics completely off their heads.
Jigsaw's copycat had crooked cops to blame,
But Pat guessed the killer early in the game.
An evil witch invaded dreams and preyed upon the weak,
A chilling tale of grief that earned the praise Pat had to speak.
An abandoned prison promised ghosts and dreadful sights,
But meth labs, aliens, and boredom spoiled the frights.
A witch spoke through the radio and filled a home with dread,
Nine Chainsaws for the terror, and the sorrow of the dead.
Above the shores of France, the soldiers fell,
Then found beneath the Nazi labs a deeper kind of hell.
A pandemic slasher came to spread its fear,
Where isolation couldn't keep the killer clear.
A vessel drifted, haunted by its dead,
With bloody secrets waiting where the passengers once tread.
The dead returned, but something came back wrong,
For grief can make a foolish heart believe it is so strong.
Two sisters faced a curse beneath the moon,
As adolescence grew some teeth and changed their lives too soon.
A lonely girl went searching through a screen,
Where internet-born nightmares blurred the real and the unseen.
At Crystal Lake, the legend wouldn't die,
For Jason's shadow lingered where the frightened campers lie.
The woods were calling Jason back once more,
And fans returned to Camp Blood for another round of gore.
Lugosi loved the darkness Poe had spun,
And turned his surgeon's talents into something far from fun.
A killer found the current running hot,
And death by execution wasn't quite the end he got.
The corpses rose, the living looked confused,
And zombie-movie expectations found themselves abused.
A Halloween party summoned something foul,
And Hull House filled with demons on the prowl.
Four friends concealed a secret from the past,
But someone with a hook made sure their peace would never last.
The floodwaters rose, and hungry gators came,
A hurricane was bad enough without their deadly game.
Through silent shadows wandered restless dread,
Where dreams and waking nightmares blurred the living and the dead.
An ancient curse arose from desert sand,
And brought forgotten terrors to a most unfortunate land.
Nicolas Cage wore Dracula's bloody crown,
While Renfield tried to put his toxic master down.
A disconnected telephone began to ring,
And voices of the murdered had some helpful things to bring.
A house of ghosts held secrets in its walls,
With restless spirits waiting down its haunted halls.
A daughter entered slasher cinema's domain,
And found both laughs and heartbreak in the blood-soaked frame.
Four ghostly hunters answered New York's call,
With proton packs and wisecracks, they were ready for it all.
A village drowned in sickness, fear, and doubt,
Where every answer raised more questions than it figured out.
The demon Valak returned to spread its dread,
With holy halls and shadows where the innocent had fled.
A hungry plant demanded flesh to eat,
While Seymour found that fame and love could come with quite a treat.
The Deadites came to claim another night,
And closed the thirteenth October in a frenzy of bloody fright.
Thirty-one nights, the autumn passed,
Another season finished at last.
From ancient crypts to modern screens,
From killer plants to slasher queens.
The chainsaws rested, the candles burned low,
The final credits ended the show.
Thirteen Octobers had come and gone,
Yet Mr. Pat's tradition carried on.
And when the leaves returned next year,
So would the laughter, blood, and fear.
For monsters rest, but never stay,
And Year Fourteen was on its way.
